Friday Favorites- 6/29

Hey everyone and happy Friday! My blogging hiatus is no more…for today anyway! This week I came across a baking gadget that could change the way I bake forever. If you’re anything like me, you’ve tried everything to make muffin-tin baked goods in a non-messy way, only to find out, there is not a clean way to do it. That is until now. Just fill it up and squeeze your desired amount of batter into each cup.

Friday Favorite- 6/15

Happy Friday! We have been having fabulous weather this week here in Wisconsin, and it’s been awesome! Hopefully someday soon I will have a chance to blog more than once a week! But until then, I came across this sweet chair makeover and had to share it this week. It’s bright, fun, and from Ikea- what’s not to love? Find the tutorial here to make your own!

Have a great weekend!

Father’s Day Card

This is a card that my son and I made for my husband’s birthday a few weeks ago. It’s super simple, and looks great, too! It would make a great Father’s Day card for that special dad or grandpa in your life!

To make this card, start with a piece of card stock and some painters tape. Then, make diagonal stripes across the paper. Add a little paint, and you’re almost done.

After the paint is dry, take the tape off and decorate as you wish!

10K Race

Well, I did it! I ran my first 10k! Last Saturday the conditions could not have been more perfect. It was an absolutely gorgeous day in Milwaukee. As we ran, we enjoyed a beautiful view along Lake Michigan. My friend, Stacy, and I trained together, and stayed together throughout the race. I hope we will run many more races together.

Right before the finish

It took about 66 minutes to complete the course, or a 10:39 pace. Not exactly a Boston Marathon qualifying time, but that’s fine with me. Training for this race has been a great journey. It has strengthened friendships, strengthened my own body, kept me focused, and given me a new confidence in my abilities. As you can see below, I have a great little training buddy and fan!

With all this beautiful weather we’ve been having, I thought a fun, outdoor craft would be appropriate. I’m excited to do this with my 11 month old!

Have a great weekend everyone and stay cool!

(no title)

Hey guys! Race day is coming up in few days (eek!) and I have a few more thoughts I’ve been wanting to share. This time, about the power of proper shoes.

Now, by a proper pair of shoes, I mean shoes from an actual running store that have been fitted specifically for you. These stores have people who know what they are talking about, (not someone who just works in the shoe section) and usually have a shoe for almost any budget.
In the Milwaukee area we have a store called Performance Running Outfitters. They have a great selection of shoes as well as a very friendly and knowledgeable staff. They watch you walk barefoot to see how your feet (work) and watch you jog on a treadmill to make sure your feet are pronating properly. The best things is they do this for each client who walks in the door- for free!

Friday Favorite- 5/28

Happy Friday! I hope your long holiday weekend is off to a great start!
Favorite BiteMini Pigs In A Blanket
I’m not even gonna lie, I made these for breakfast this morning. There is something about a little smokie and a crescent roll that is just so good.

Now, before you judge, let me explain. My husband used a couple vacation days so we could enjoy a long weekend together as a family. It’s his birthday weekend and we had a lot of fun activities planned. However, instead of the beach tomorrow, he has to get a root canal. Yep, a root canal, during vacation, right before his birthday. That’s like a triple whammy. No matter what happens, I am going to give him the best darn birthday weekend I can, root canal and all! Today that meant mini pigs in a blanket. Tomorrow it might mean milkshakes. 🙂

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Friday Favorites- 5/18

Hey guys! I hope you are all having a good week! It has been feeling more summer-like over here and it has been awesome. It was even warm enough to get out the kiddie pool!
This week, and probably from now on I will be posting just one favorite find each Friday. I have been finding that I do not have time for much more than that. Maybe I can come up with a fun new name for a new section on the blog. Until then, here’s what I found, and don’t worry, it’s good!
I like sweet potatoes so much I could eat one everyday (and sometimes I do!)  These burgers are easy to make, healthy and they look delicious! This would be a perfect meat free alternative to serve at a summer barbecue!
Happy Friday, and enjoy the weekend!!!
